I have a new morning routine and I love it!

Until a week ago, I used to wake up at the same time as Ellie. Usually around 8 or 9AM.

While taking care of her, I’d try to practice my yoga and share some content on social media. But of course, it was never as smooth as I wanted it to be.

She’d climb on top of me, make me lose my balance, then ask every 5min something to eat like a chocolate or a carrot and then she’ll ask to change the channel to another cartoon. And the list goes on and on…

Although I love her very much, sometimes I feel like screaming and running away from her. But I know this was not a solution. If I wanted to keep my sanity though, I knew I had to do something about it.

One morning I couldn’t sleep anymore

I tried to go back to sleep but my body was like “nuh hu… not gonna sleep b*tch, I’m wide awake!”

It was around 6AM and Ellie was still sleeping. I knew I had at least 2 hours before she’d wake up. So I took this opportunity to do a list of things that I do best in a silent environment.

I started to plan my day ahead by writing down the tasks I wanted to achieve, drink some water and my morning coffee, write on my journal then wake up my body with some gentle stretch. I’d focus on my breath and move slowly from one asana to another not minding how long I was staying in a posture.

After 1h of practice, I felt so good, I knew this was my solution to balance my hectic life with my 2-year-old baby.

My feedback after a week into this new routine

I feel much much better!

I don’t even need an alarm to wake me up. It’s like my body has an internal clock and I always wake up around 6 or 7AM. Even when I sleep late like 2AM.

I’m definitely more productive! I’m creating more content here on the blog and also on social media. And overall, I’m feeling more at peace throughout the day.

Will this work for you?

Maybe yes. Maybe no.

I’ve always been more productive in the morning.

Davidson for example could never follow my routine. Simply because he’s a night person.

The key is to know yourself. Try different routines and see what works best for you. Everyone is unique. Don’t try to copy me. Just pay attention to when you’re the most productive during the day and once you’ve figured that out, do the things that you know will increase your level of energy.

For me, it’s drinking coffee while journaling, then gently waking up my body by stretching it for 30min to 1h.

What about you? 🙂
